Timberlake to Resell Visual Numerics' Numerical Analysis and Visualization Software
in Europe and Brazil

San Ramon, CA - October 21, 2003 - Visual Numerics Inc., a leading provider of numerical analysis and visualization software, today announced a partnership with leading mathematical and statistical software distributor, Timberlake Consultants, Ltd. Timberlake will resell Visual Numerics' products including the IMSL™ Numerical Libraries and PV-WAVE in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Poland and Brazil. This partnership will complement Visual Numerics' direct software sales team in the UK, France and Germany, and help the company expand its business analytics reach into new territories.

Timberlake Consultants, Ltd. (www.timberlake.co.uk), headquartered in London England with satellite offices in all the other countries, specializes in statistics, econometrics, mathematics and operational research software. The company also offers technical support, training and consulting

on each software package they resell. The partnership between Visual Numerics and Timberlake will extend both companies' mathematical and statistical offerings and expertise, as well as provide European and South American customers with a complete source for business analytics software and consulting services.
