| What is Mathematica (by Wolfram Research Inc.)?
Mathematica is a software system for Numerical Analysis and Symbolic Calculus. The system provides 2D and 3D graphics and incorporates its own programming language which may be used to create programs which can call, if so required, C, Fortran and TeX. Mathematica also pr Mathematica provides interfaces with other packages via MathLink. |

Mathematica works with multiple notebooks (like Word with several documents) and allows the input to be made directly in standard mathematica notation. Many palettes are supplied so that the input can be easy. Mathematica provides hundreds of options that allow you to give notebooks any look you want -- and generate full publication quality graphs. Mathematica notebooks are automatically targeted for screen or printout -- optimising fonts and layout for each medium. Mathematica has the power to combine text, tables, standard mathematical notation (for input and output) and graphics in a single notebook, and set bookmarks to connect related topics with hyperlinks. Therefore, Mathematica provides an integrated publishing system. With this capabilities, you can create a report of your analysis, produce presentations or give classes. Then you can export them directly to HTML (to publish them on the Internet) and also to LaTeX. Animations and sounds can be easily produced in Mathematica: An on-line Help System grouped by several topics, completed with examples and links, is available for answering any questions the user might have. It contains all the pages (more than 1400) of "The Mathematica Book" digitised. Top This Mathematics Web is Copyright of Timberlake Consultants Limited and Wolfram Research Inc |
