The user manuals provide complete information on all aspects of using the LINDO, LINDO API, LINGO and What'sBest! software. Each manual includes a full tutorial, which walks you through the process of building and solving your first model. Tips are also available on analyzing the solution to get the most out of your optimization results, as well as, numerical considerations to increase the speed of your model. Numerous real-world examples can also be found in the manuals covering areas of distribution, staff scheduling, manufacturing, inventory, capital budgeting, financial planning, portfolio optimization, and much more.
Two comprehensive textbooks on optimization modeling are available: Optimization Modeling with LINGO and Optimization Modeling with LINDO, both by Linus Schrage. The two textbooks thoroughly discuss all major classes of optimization models. Their most useful feature is their liberal use of real-world examples to illustrate each application and modeling concept.
LINDO
The nearly 300 page LINDO manual includes in-depth coverage of the numerous commands and features of LINDO in a well organized manner. The manual contains information about developing models for integer programming with the LINDO branch-and-bound solver, as well as, quadratic programming.
LINDO API
The nearly 250 page LINDO API manual includes in-depth coverage of the numerous functions of the LINDO API in a well organized manner. The manual contains information about creating programs using C and Visual Basic, using Callback Functions, and using Mixed Integers. Information on the MPS and LINDO file formats is also included.
LINGO
The 500+ page LINGO manual explains the syntax of the modeling language thoroughly using simple examples for illustration. The manual includes in-depth coverage of the vast library of built-in functions, which allow the user to generate large, complex models quickly. It even shows how to customize LINGO with user defined functions. Detailed discussion on how LINGO can interface with other applications using Object Linking and Embedding, Open DataBase Connectivity, or the Dynamic Link Library is also included.
What'sBest!
The 250+ page What'sBest! manual covers all commands available on the What'sBest! add-in menu--from the ABC's to the advanced features. The manual contains complete information on the macros and functions--including a tutorial of building and solving a model with Visual Basic macros. Dozens of real-world based examples for you to use to get started quickly are also included.
The LINDO, LINDO API, LINGO, and What'sBest! users manuals are included with their respective software products when a license is purchased. Commercial licenses for the Solver Suite include a comprehensive set of all four manuals. The number of manuals included with other types of licenses (i.e., site licenses) may vary. Additional manuals are available for a small fee.
