FREE Seminar: Applying Business Forecasting Techniques Using Forecast Pro

Course details
- Location: Cass Business School, London
- Date: 9th May, 2012
- Delivered by: Eric Stellwagen, Vice President and co-founder of Business Forecast Systems

Course Overview
Effectively applying statistical forecasting techniques to real business data is a challenge. Unlike textbook examples, forecasting corporate data requires successfully blending knowledge of statistical modelling with empirical knowledge about “what works” and domain knowledge of what the future holds.
This workshop is designed for anyone who needs to prepare forecasts based upon historical demand, explanatory variables and judgment. It reviews several quantitative forecasting methods—including exponential smoothing, Box-Jenkins, event modelling and dynamic regression—explains how they work conceptually, discusses the pros and cons of each approach and illustrates how they are applied to real data using the Forecast Pro software. The session will also discuss approaches used to reconcile forecasts made at different levels of a product hierarchy.
You’ll learn how to:
- Select the appropriate forecasting technique
- Build and diagnose a forecasting model
- Interpret the results
Numerous real-life examples from a range of industries will be presented to illustrate how the techniques are applied to corporate data.
