Overview

Timberlake Consultants invite you to attend the following two day, hands-on course to be held in New York on 9-10 October 2014.

Meta-analysis refers the statistical technique to combine the findings from independent studies. The aim of this two-day course is to introduce the main statistical techniques for meta-analysis and demonstrates, in a practical way, how to use Stata 13 commands designed for this purpose. The course will be delivered mainly using the metan, metareg, metabias, and mvmeta Stata commands.

The course is intended for researchers, physicians, clinicians, public health professionals, epidemiologists and biostatisticians, from public and private institutions who need to apply meta-analysis. Previous experience with statistical and epidemiological data analysis and familiarity with Stata basics would be desired. Each learning session will give equal weight to tutorials and practical exercises.

Feedback & Testimonials

Aurelio Tobías, BSc MSc PhD CStat, is Senior Scientist at the Spanish Scientific Research Council (CSIC) in Barcelona, and part-time lecturer at the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF). He has a long professional experience as medical statistician, with positions in the major Spanish medical research centres in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as teaching epidemiological data analysis at postgraduate level. He also did research stays at the Universities of Southampton, Sheffield, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, and as a fellow at GlaxoWelcome labs. He has developed the metap, metainf and galbr Stata ado-files for meta-analysis.

This is the first time we have run Meta-analysis using Stata as a stand alone course, so we have no previous feedback for the course. However, Aurelio’s other course, An Introduction to Meta-analysis at our annual Stata Summer School ranks as one of our most popular courses and is always very well received by participants.
